Our car ferry returned on schedule at the end of October so off we went, eager to explore new territory. It was beautiful and sunny and the big ferry between Vancouver Island and the mainland almost glided through the glass-like water. There was even a pod of dolphins playing nearby (sadly no pictures because I didn’t bring my ‘real’ camera).
You would think after all the car traveling we have done that we would be more on top of what we should have with us but since we were staying in a hotel this time I didn’t think to pack bowls and spoons so we could make our own breakfasts. Mug cereal it was for the first morning until I broke down and bought new camp bowls and sporks.

WD and I got to explore all around Squamish and Whistler while the other gypsy was doing some professional development. The gorgeous weather continued for the first day and the view of Diamond Head was phenomenal (and never to be seen again).

Then the rain set in and our quick tour around Whistler the next day was a wet one.

On Monday we drove down to Vancouver and after a quick stop at the office, WD wanted to stretch his legs in Stanley Park.

On our final day as tourists to the mainland the sun finally came back and we hiked some more of the easier trails around Squamish.

We stopped to watch the rock climbers doing their thing.

One more night in a hotel, then one and a half hours by ferry, 4 hours of driving and a wooly 30 minute ferry ride with wind gusts of 110kms per hour brought us back home to our little island.
